About the Invisible Illness, Visible Worth Interview Project

Over the last several years, I’ve learned just how common it is to have a chronic illness or invisible illness. My chronic conditions and chronic pain have dramatically changed  my daily life, but to other people, I might not look much different.

The unfortunate truth is that many people who have invisible illnesses feel like we’ve become invisible ourselves. Our stories get lost as our illnesses progress and demand we spend most or all of our time at home.

I realized I could do something about that.

I originally pursued journalism because I love getting to hear people’s stories and the opportunity to share them. (I ended up switching my major to a more open-ended Communications degree, but I have missed the opportunity to interview people.) I want to put my background in journalism and enthusiasm for telling other people’s stories to use shining a light on chronic illnesses, chronic pain, and invisible illnesses.

I want to make our stories visible.

I want to make our worth visible.

People with chronic illness and invisible illness have such valuable insight to share, and such amazing stories of faith and perseverance. Because let me tell you, chronic illness is hard. Being judged for your invisible illness is hard.

I find that being able to share my story and pass along something that can help someone else makes what I’m going through more worthwhile and purposeful.

Are you interested in being interviewed?

Submit an email to cassie[at]cassiecreley.com with the subject: Visible Worth Interview: [your first name]. (Be sure to replace [at] with the @ symbol.)

Do you know someone who might want to be interviewed?

Send them a link to this page: https://cassiecreley.com/about-the-project/

How does it work?

I can conduct interviews over email. In the future, dependent on my health improving, I’d like to add the option of conducting interviews via phone.

After you email me, I’ll send you a list of questions. I ask that you aim to respond to my interview questions within two-three weeks. (I want to give you ample time as I know energy/time is a challenge with chronic illness.) I might send a few brief follow up questions after your initial responses.

Please note that interview responses may be edited for brevity or clarity, etc., while maintaining your voice and content.

Thank you for your interest!
