Flower and Leaf Scavenger Hunt

I love finding new ways to enjoy and appreciate the outdoors, and I hope this flower and leaf scavenger hunt printable brings you joy as you get out in nature!

Is this printable geared towards kids? Yes, but I think this would be fun for any age, especially as a prompt for a photo scavenger hunt. I fully intend on doing a photo scavenger hunt using this printable with fellow grownups!

So many “kid” activities work great for adding a little whimsy to life, especially for those of us living with low energy due to chronic illness.

You can use this printable pretty much yearround. Spring and summer are a great time to find many colorful flowers, and autumn will be the best time to find a variety of leaf colors.

I took this printable for a test run this summer: I printed out copies for some of my friends’ kids when we went to visit a nearby lake. My mom had the brilliant idea to laminate the pages, which made them much sturdier and easy to reuse.

Here are some fun ideas for using these printables:

Collect flowers: The kids enjoyed a little treasure hunt looking for flowers for each square.

Tic Tac Toe: I suggested the kids gather pinecones and leaves to use as markers to play rounds of tic tac toe. Rocks, twigs, and any other items from nature can be used.

Photo Scavenger Hunt: If you are somewhere that you cannot pick flowers or leaves (like a garden or conservatory) take a picture of each flower instead, or sketch a flower in each square. You could use Seek or a similar app to look up the names of flowers and add them to your printable as well.

Make it Reusable: Don’t’ want to write on the printable so it can be reused? If you laminate the printable, you can use dry erase markers to mark the board, or stick on sticky notes to “fill” each square.
