Cinderella as Rosie the Riveter – Altered Coloring Book Art #3

I’m excited to share the latest of my altered color book pages.

I’ve been wanting to more coloring like this (as I mentioned in my list of easy ideas for summer fun).

I love coloring in general, and have found it even more fun to inject some originality. This is my way of keeping the creative juices flowing in spite of the limitations of chronic illness and chronic pain.

If you love coloring too, or are wanting to give it a try, here are some insightful tips from professional art therapists about how to benefit most from coloring.

So how do I get ideas for changing up a coloring page? I flipped through my book (this one) and Cinderella’s handkerchief on her head reminded me of Rosie the Riveter.

Gift Idea: Mommy and Me Craft Kits

I have a fun gift idea to share with you all today!

I got the idea for this because one of my close friends is a mom of a little one and pregnant with her second child. I wanted to give her something that would be a ready-made project for her to enjoy with her little girl once her little boy arrives. This kit will make it easy for her to spend some one-on-one time with her daughter.

Here are the three mini-kits I put together.

Why I’m Making Christmas Cards in January

Since Christmas, I’ve still been in a Christmasy mood. Which has been nice because it has made the season feel like it’s lasted a little longer. I was very unwell Christmas day, so this has helped. I still felt like making Christmas things, and I’ve actually had a little bit of energy this month to do so.

It has also helped that my parents got us a Sizzix embossing/die cutting machine for Christmas, which has been so fun to play with. Plus, it’s made card making very easy. (And watching tutorials on YouTube for using fun card cutouts while I’m crashed in a recliner has been inspiring. It’s nice to feel like I’m learning something and getting creatively inspired, vs. just being stuck recuperating.)

    Happy Halloween everyone!

For all my fellow booklovers and Beauty and the Beast fans, here’s my Belle costume!

I happened to have this Medieval-style peasant dress I sewed years ago—that looked so much like Belle’s dress in the movie that I couldn’t resist dressing up as her. (And she IS one of my favorite princesses.) Adding the little details and making the necklace was pretty easy.

I love having costume pieces and fabrics around because that makes it pretty easy to pull together costumes.
